{"id":14059,"date":"2019-04-16T17:50:36","date_gmt":"2019-04-16T17:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womenofarmenia.org\/new_woman\/?p=14059"},"modified":"2025-09-03T14:59:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T14:59:18","slug":"violence-agianst-women-and-anti-discrimination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womenofarmenia.org\/en\/2019\/04\/16\/violence-agianst-women-and-anti-discrimination\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s Rights Advocacy"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advocacy activities of the Women&#8217;s Resource Center include: monitoring government policies, laws,\u00a0 regulations related to various groups of women and raising current problems, advocating the use of rights-based and gender-sensitive approaches in the development and implementation of state policies and legislation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our advocacy activities are based on the experience of working with different groups of women, including women with disabilities, women living with HIV, rural women, LBT+ women, Yezidi women, also women subjected to domestic and sexual violence, and the issues raised by women from these communities and professionals working with them.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We advocate on the following topics:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gender equality,<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gender violence,<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">raising issues of women&#8217;s human rights and sexual and reproductive health legislation and public policy, and implementing measures for social change at the decision-making level.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our advocacy work includes <\/span><b>national <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> international <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">levels.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the<\/span><b> national level<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the organization\u00a0 implements advocacy aimed at ensuring gender sensitivity and human rights in domestic legislation and policies, which will serve to protect women of different groups from gender discrimination, as well as guarantee the realization of the rights to decent work and payment, freedom from violence and harassment, quality education, and access to healthcare in everyday life.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the<\/span><b> international leve<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>l<\/strong>, the organization:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drafts and advocacy of shadow reports to UN Contracting bodies and special reporters.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advocates at the national level for proposals made to the state by the UN Contracting bodies.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advocates for women&#8217;s rights in other international platforms, including the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the European Union.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advocacy at the international level helps us influence decision makers at the national level.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/womenofarmenia.org\/2021\/04\/19\/directions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Directions<\/a><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/womenofarmenia.org\/2021\/04\/19\/the-womens-resource-center-is-a-member-of\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Membership<\/a><\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Advocacy activities of the Women\u2019s Resource Center include: monitoring government policies, laws,  regulations related to various groups of women and raising current problems, advocating the use of rights-based and gender-sensitive approaches in the development and implementation of state policies and legislation. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":14002,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"give_campaign_id":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[78],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-14059","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-priorities-2"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 -
